My cousin is getting married in London over the weekend.\u00a0 Today is my flight. \u00a0The cars furiously\u00a0honked at each other in the jammed parking lot of Dulles International Airport.\u00a0 The sound of the tires squealing as people realized they needed to hit the brakes to avoid collision echoed in the\u00a0polluted air.\u00a0 The tires emitted a smell of burning rubber.\u00a0 I felt like I was stranded.\u00a0 Cars everywhere, of every color, size, and design.\u00a0 Children peeped out of the windows with horrified expressions.\u00a0 I wanted to scream, “Let me out!” but ofcourse I couldn’t.\u00a0 My nice friend had volunteered to drop me off for my flight.\u00a0 I could see from his face now that he was regretting this decision.\u00a0 Somewhere in the distance, a family of five made their way around the cars, as if in a maze.\u00a0 The sound of the children’s tiny footsteps, and of their mother’s high heels joined the honking of the cars.\u00a0 A car put on its reverse lights, and the head of every driver turned towards its direction, their heads moving in unison.\u00a0 Miraculously, the car made its way out of the parking.\u00a0 The two cars surrounding the parking space gave their indicators, the blinking light formed its own rhythm.\u00a0 Who had given the indicator first?\u00a0 Both cars went for the parking.\u00a0 The sound of sudden acceleration, then braking, then acceleration.\u00a0 The sound of opening doors, footsteps, yelling, arguing.\u00a0 This provided entertainment for some of the stranded.\u00a0 Who knew parking could cause this much chaos?\u00a0 I sat in my car, staring at the fly stuck to the glove compartment, its wings periodically fluttered.\u00a0 The sounds of airplanes taking off shattered across the sky.\u00a0 “I should’ve just dropped you off at the entrance, why did I need to go inside with you?” came a voice filled with remorse.\u00a0 I looked at my friend with my eyes full of pity, my voice taking on a high pitch, apologetic tone.\u00a0 I had one handbag with me, we would make it in time, I thought.\u00a0 Raindrops started pounding on the windshield.\u00a0 The windshield wipers squeaked away.\u00a0 I could hear myself breathing.\u00a0 I quietly decided that I was not taking another vacation for a long time.\u00a0 The fly buzzed something in my ear.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
